Three-Part Breast/Chestfeeding Workshop

Course Goal: To prepare expectant parents and their partners for a confident and successful early breast/chestfeeding experience by providing evidence-based information, practical skills, and strategies for postpartum support.

Session Duration: Three 90 minutes sessions

Session 1: The Biological Foundation and The Golden Hour

Focus: The 'Why' (importance) and the 'When' (the immediate postpartum period). This session focuses on biological readiness, maximizing the first hour, and setting the stage for effective feeding.

Topics include:

  • Impacts and importance of breast/chestfeeding

  • How birth practices can affect breast/chest feeding

  • Early and frequent skin-to-skin

  • The Neurobiology of the first hour - breast crawl

  • Principles of latching and positions

  • How to tell if baby is getting milk at the breast/chest (early days)

Session 2: Practical Management and Assessing Intake

Focus: The 'What' (milk production and intake) and the 'When' (demand feeding). This session moves past the first few days into establishing a feeding rhythm and ensuring the baby is thriving

Topics include:

  • Managing breast/chestfeeding sessions

  • How to know they are getting enough milk overall

  • Barriers to demand feeding

  • Common concerns (early focus)

Session 3: Wellness, Support, and Sustained Success

Focus: The 'Who' (the parent/support team) and the 'What If' (long-term challenges and lifestyle integration). This session focuses on the parent's health and the support system required to make breast/chestfeeding sustainable.

Topics include:

  • Setting up support systems postpartum

  • Nutrition and breast/chestfeeding

  • Common concerns (later focus)

  • Safe sleep guidelines

Premium Package: $300 - includes a 30 minute private virtual follow-up

Registration

When to register: Plan to complete this workshop between weeks 28 and 36 ideally ending about four weeks before expected due date

  • First-time parents: between 28 to 32 weeks

  • Parents of multiples/high-risk: 26 to 30 weeks
